The Leipzig bus tour with videoBustour
With our multimedia coach, you can experience a very special Leipzig bus tour
Our multimedia Leipzig bus tour is different than the tours. In buses with additional monitors, we show exclusive film clips of historic pictures and films at the original locations, commented live by our guides. Our classic tour, the “Time travel through Leipzig”, provides a vivid insight into the history and the present of the city. With the films, you experience Leipzig more vividly and emotionally than a normal sightseeing tour. Our specially trained guides will not only tell the stories behind the history, but also control and moderate the film material. In addition to the “time travel tour”, we have developed numerous themed sightseeing tours like “the peaceful revolution”, “the Leipzig trade fair” and “everyday culture in the GDR”. By groups, these tours can be booked at any time and in many different languages. We also offer public tours in German language every Saturday – please check the dates on our website.
The footage on our city tour in Leipzig
Our long-standing cooperation with many important German and international film archives allows us to always select the best footage for our multimedia bus tours. For the city tour in Leipzig, we work with old DEFA-Wochenschau or private material taken during the Peaceful Revolution in 1989, which the “Museum in the Round Corner” provided us (The Runde Ecke museum is the official federal German museum for the Peaceful Revolution). Particularly impressive are the photos from the early years of the trade fair in Leipzig, the world’s first ever trade fair! Curiously this trade fair was taking place spread across all over the inner city and only quite recently found it’s fixed the exhibition ground. We drive across this impressive area and show films of the successful and sometimes quirky products by the pots-war GDR. Emotionally moving is the footage from the time of Peaceful Revolution because the fall of the Berlin Wall started in Leipzig with the “Monday demonstrations”: We show original film material from the tipping point of these demonstrations on 9th October 1989, taken from a church tower. And we still discover new and unseen film footage to continually update our multimedia bus tours for each year!
The Leipzig bus tour to the “Overview Tour”
Experience Leipzig’s history up close. Our guide will accompany you on the bus tour to the main attractions of Leipzig. In addition, the guide presents unique films, photos and sound documents on the custom-built multimedia system in our luxury coach. You can see details that even true Leipzig citizens hardly know: the huge main train station over the course of time, military parades at the monument of the “battle of the nations”, gigantic GDR sports festivals in the “stadium of the hundred-thousand” or new the city train tunnel underneath central Leipzig. Experience Leipzig and its famous personalities on an exciting journey through time: Leipzig as the centre of trade and trade fairs, as a book and publishing city and as the cradle of great music and literature.

Bus tour of the Peaceful Revolution
“Monday: Revolution! The end of the GDR “is the title of our videoBustour that travels back in time to the GDR and the year 1989. This unique multimedia tour of the city is looking for traces of (East) German history in Leipzig: What was everyday life in the GDR like? What were the methods of the Stasi? Where did the subculture of the East happen? And what led to the legendary motto of the demonstrators in 1989: “We are the people”? Original recordings of life in Leipzig around 1989 and the “Mondays demonstrations” revive the time of the Peaceful Revolution. On the monitors in our multimedia bus, we show recently discovered films and photos that will make you feel the tensions of these days.
Leipzig, City of books (Buchstadt Leipzig)
Leipzig, City of Poets! Leipzig, city of the literati! Leipzig, City of Books! Another fast-paced city tour takes us to Leipzig’s literary history. Follow the footsteps of Erich Kästner and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, discover the historic publishing houses Brockhaus and Reclam, and experience fascinating book stories at the location of the historic print shops Brandstetter and Interdruck. In the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, Leipzig was the book metropolis of Germany. This important chapter of German cultural history can be experienced on our multimedia bus tour to the “City of books”.
